St Modwen has secured the go-ahead to develop further space at its Burton Gateway Industrial Park on the A38 – making it one of the largest industrial and warehouse developments in the Midlands.
East Staffordshire borough council has granted consent for an additional 230,000 sq ft of distribution and industrial space at the park, taking the total amount of planned employment space up to 1m sq ft.
St Modwen’s decision to apply for the extra space follows high levels of interest from occupiers and marks a further vote of confidence in the improving Midlands market.
Ian Romano, senior development surveyor at St Modwen, said: “Outline planning consent is already secured for 770,000 sq ft of employment space and work is underway on a £1m dedicated A38 junction.”
St Modwen received detailed consent for the first 87,000 sq ft warehouse from the council last year.
Construction will begin this summer.
