Savills’ David Middleton dies

David-Middleton-THUMBSavills has confirmed that David Middleton, a founding director of its Birmingham office, has passed away following a battle with cancer.

David was a member of Savills’ commercial division for 17 years and instrumental in a variety of development projects, most recently advising the University of Northampton on its campus relocation.

Mark Ridley, chief executive of Savills UK and Europe, said: “David gave total commitment to Savills throughout his career with us and was a fantastic mentor to those in Birmingham.  He was a brilliant team player who was loved by clients for providing such professional advice.

“During his illness, David was inspirational in his approach and continued his role on key projects, showing unbelievable courage and great humour throughout.  It was an honour to know him and we will all miss him enormously.  Our thoughts and sympathy are with his wife and children at this sad time.”

Barry Allen, head of Savills’ Birmingham office, added: “David and I worked together for 30 years, jointly founding the Savills office in Birmingham 17 years ago. He was a major part of its growth.

“It was a privilege to have worked with him and to be able to regard him as a close friend.  David brought a business insight and an unfailing sense of humour to his advice, which was always of the highest calibre. We will miss him deeply.”

A memorial service will be held on 8 June at St George’s Church in Edgbaston.
