Inland Homes has secured planning permission from Southampton city council for the £70m redevelopment of the former Meridian TV Studios site on Summers Street in Southampton.
The site has been vacant since 2008, and since then multiple schemes for redevelopment have been rejected.
Inland’s Meridian Gardens scheme comprises 351 homes, of which 145 are one-bedroom flats, 174 are two-bedroom and 32 are three-bedroom.
It will range in height from two to 13 storeys.
The scheme also includes shops, offices, an extension of the local park to the waterfront and a new waterfront walkway.
Stephen Wicks, chief executive, Inland Homes, said: “We are delighted that Southampton city council has resolved to grant planning permission for the Meridian TV Studios site. We believe that this decision is a reflection of Inland’s expertise in planning and development, and are confident that this project will benefit the local community.”
