WATCH: British Land has just unveiled its fresh new headquarters.
The company underwent a multi-million pound overhaul of its offices at York House, W1, near London’s Marble Arch.
BL wanted a working environment that would help with staff retention and motivation and also impress clients.
After a year of construction work, the company let Estates Gazette inside its new office for a special tour.
Chris Grigg chief executive said: “We were a little bit radical. There were people here at the beginning about whom we were not sure we’d get the response in terms of different behaviours.
“But all the early signs are that people are using the staircase a huge amount, and breakout areas a huge amount. We’re getting lots of meetings, with people bumping into one another on the staircase, sitting down at sofas, around the coffee machine, so that increase in dialog is great.”
