Property tax on wealthy foreigners raises yield

A tax levied on properties owned by companies raised £136m in April and May, up from £91m in the same period last year.

The annual tax on enveloped dwellings (Ated) is payable on homes worth more than £1m. Foreigners and non-domiciled residents often use corporate ownership of property to avoid inheritance tax.
