Mintcake lot whets appetites
The former Mintcake Works site in Kendal, Cumbria, formerly occupied by one of the original makers of Kendal mint cakes, is to be offered for £200,000-plus. The site has consent for seven two-bedroom cottages and is one of 17 lots being offered by Auction House Cumbria on 23 July at Coronation Hall, Ulverston, Cumbria.
Strettons sells 77%
Strettons posted a 77% success rate from its 6 July sale at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2, which raised £9.3m. Of the 55 lots offered, 36 sold in the room and four sold prior.
Suffolk caravan park for sale
An 8.5-acre caravan park in Shotley Gate, Suffolk, will be available at the next Goldings Auctions sale on 22 July at Wherstead Park in Ipswich. The lot is guided at £200,000
to £250,000. Twelve other lots are on offer.
Top lot fails for Network
Network Auctions’ hopes of selling the most expensive house outside London via auction were dashed at its 9 July sale at Grosvenor House hotel, which had a 69% success rate. Bids for Thakeham Manor, in West Sussex, went to £4.9m but fell short of the reserve. Guided at £4.5m, it was among 38 lots offered.
Fishing for a bargain in Frome
A vacant freehold 5.36-acre site containing commercial fishing lakes will go under the hammer on 21 July at Cooper & Tanner Glastonbury’s next auction in Frome Livestock Market in Somerset. The carp-and roach-stocked lakes have 26 fishing stations and generate an income of £4,000 pa. The lot is guided at £75,000.
Graham Penny raises £2.9m
Graham Penny raised £2.9m at its latest sale at Nottingham Racecourse on 10 July, recording a 66% success rate. Of the 50 lots offered, six sold prior and 26 sold in the room.
