Modern eatery Barworks has signed for a 25-year lease at the recently revamped Singer Tavern, EC2.
A former sports bar, Singer Tavern, at 1 City Road, comprises 6,027 sq ft across ground and lower levels and has been refurbished by Shoreditch-based leisure agent CF Commercial on behalf of Rocket Investments.
Singer Tavern is part of Rocket Investments’ east London portfolio, which includes Linen Court and the Atlas Building in Shoreditch.
Craig Fisher, founder of CF Commercial, said: “We are convinced that the revival of Singer Tavern, which sits at the confluence of the City of London and Shoreditch, will help boost, and contribute to, an area that is as creative as it is competitive.”
Marc Francis-Baum, co-owner of Barworks, said: “The Tavern’s young, talented catchment population is demanding more than standard chain outlets and we believe Singer Tavern’s gastropub novel food menu, with a huge selection of craft beers and a boutique cocktail bar in the basement, will accommodate this demand to perfection.”
