DTZ Investors is planning to transform a Homebase in Wandsworth, SW18, into a 450-home scheme including a 25-storey tower.
The investment manager has submitted an environmental impact assessment for the Allies and Morrison-designed project.
The 2.5-acre site, located next to Wandsworth train station on Swandon Way, currently houses a 28,000 sq ft Homebase store along with a 170-space car
park.
The proposed scheme also includes offices and shops.
Wandsworth council’s local development framework, published in 2012, designated the site as suitable for housing but said it would likely be inappropriate for tall buildings.
However, the site is just 300 metres from the Raw Brewery scheme, which is being developed by China’s Greenland, where the tallest of the proposed towers will rise to 36 storeys.
JLL is advising on planning.
