The last development plot at Birmingham’s Park Central estate is due to gain consent on Thursday.
Birmingham city council officers have recommended that Crest Nicholson’s plans for 13.4-acre corner plot – known as zone 11 – be approved at the next planning committee.
Development on the controversial city centre site had been stymied due to a 10-year legal battle between Asda and Tesco, which each had supermarket development plans for the site. Both sets of plans failed to come to fruition.
Now the final piece in the Park Central jigsaw is set to become a major residential quarter comprising 335 flats across six buildings of up to 10 storeys. Around 217 flats are to be privately rented. The remainder will be for sale. Ancilliary uses such as a convenience store and gym are also proposed.
