Go-ahead for Docklands tower

Canary Wharf Group has secured detailed planning consent from Tower Hamlets council for the first residential tower at the estate’s new phase, formerly known as Wood Wharf. The 57-storey building will comprise 468 flats on the edge of South Dock, E14.


Consortium to build new town

A development consortium has been launched to build a £1bn new town at Sherford, Devon. Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Taylor Wimpey have formed the Sherford Consortium. It will build 5,500 homes, schools, shops, leisure and community facilities.


Edinburgh scores FanDuel HQ

Sports entertainment business FanDuel is relocating its UK head office to Moorfield’s and M&G’s Quartermile 4 development in Edinburgh, taking 58,567 sq ft. It has signed a 10-year lease on the top three floors of the scheme. Prime office rents in the city are £30 per sq ft.


Lazari dies, aged 69

Chris Lazari, the Cypriot billionaire and London property investor, has passed away following a heart attack, aged 69. His £2.3bn property company, Lazari Investments, will continue to be run in its present form by his children.


Rich steps down at SEGRO

Nigel Rich is to step down as SEGRO chairman after 10 years with the REIT. He joined as a non-executive director in 2006 before being appointed chairman that year. SEGRO has initiated a process to appoint a successor. Rich leaves next year.


Hotel for Scotland Yard

Great Scotland Yard in Whitehall, SW1, is to become a five-star hotel following a £110m deal between Galliard Homes and Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group International. A 92,000 sq ft hotel, operated by Steigenberger Hotel Group, will be built on the site.
