More ancient woodland under threat from HS2

Research by the Woodland Trust shows the amount of ancient woodland under threat as a result of the proposed High Speed 2 rail link is higher than previously thought.

The Woodland Trust has identified a further 14 woodland sites that could be at risk because of the construction of the rail line, in addition to the 83 sites previously identified.

The research estimates that some 44 hectares of woodland are under threat in the first phase of the construction process, a third more than HS2 had estimated.
