Co-op duo snap up Manchester office space

Arndale_house_manchesterA pair of Co-operative Group subsidiaries have taken the remaining available office space at M&G Real Estate’s and Intu’s Arndale House in Manchester.

CFS Management Services and CIS General Insurance have signed for 35,000 sq ft on the eight, ninth and 19th floors of the 200,000 sq ft city-centre building, on a three-year lease.

Magic circle law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has also taken a 40,000 sq ft short-term lease there while it selects an option for its main 100,000 sq ft requirement in the city.

The 23-storey Arndale House sits above the 1.4m sq ft Arndale Centre, one of the largest city shopping centres in Europe.

The Co-op’s deals conclude a short-term leasing strategy to fill the vacant space in the building. Other occupants include Sainsbury’s and Premier Foods.

Quoting rents at the block are £15 per sq ft.

TSG Property Consultants acted for M&G; Knight Frank advised Freshfields; the Co-operative subsidiaries were unrepresented.
