Countrywide makes a comeback with 73% success rate

countrywide-auctionsCountrywide Property Auctions bounced back at its latest sale with a success rate of 73%.

The result was an improvement on the 43% achieved at its previous London sale in June, and higher than the 58% and 68% posted at its July auctions in Exeter and Sheffield.

In total, the sale raised £5.6m – slightly up on the £5.4m it achieved in London last July.

Of the 44 lots offered, 19 sold in the room and 13 sold prior.

Among the lots sold before the auction was a beach hut with a timber balcony in Abersoch, Wales, which had a guide price of £85,000.

A freehold block in Croydon, south London, comprising three shops with flats above – one of which is vacant and could be expanded – sold for £726,000 off a guide price of £550,000-plus, reflecting a gross yield of 5.04%.

A former pump house near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk sold for £24,500 off a guide of £10,000 to £20,000.

Also in Norfolk, a former care home with 29 bedrooms, set on a two-acre plot, sold for £700,000 – just over its £699,000 guide price.

A three-bedroom terraced house in Kingsbury, NW9, guided at £350,000-plus, sold for £450,000.
