Audley Retirement Villages has won planning for a 124 home luxury retirement residential scheme on the site of the former Redwood Hotel and Country Club in Failand, North Somerset.
The scheme will be the twelfth venture by Audley to receive planning permission.
The firm says recent National House Building Council statistics show that housebuilders registered 2,337 homes in England specifically designed for older people in the first six months of the year, more than for the whole of last year.
John Nettleton, land director at Audley Retirement Villages, said: “Audley is committed to continuing the expansion we have enjoyed over the past few years. To do this, we need suitable land for development and are always searching for new possibilities. Our team was expanded earlier this year to do just that.”
Audley bought the side in June 2014 for more than £10m. Work on site is set to begin at the beginning of October.
