Shard secures record office rent

The-Shard-SE1The Shard, SE1, has secured a new record office rent for the London market outside the West End with a deal on its 26th floor.

Zurich-based Fintech firm Leonteq Securities (Europe) has taken 15,912 sq ft at the 72-floor landmark, paying in excess of £90 per sq ft.

That figure tops the £90 per sq ft recently secured at the City’s Leadenhall building, though lower floors at The Shard continue to be marketed at between £60 and £85 per sq ft.

Leonteq is moving from its West End base at 100 Wigmore Street, W1, with the rent also representing the highest ever paid on the South Bank.

It is the eighth letting confirmed this year, taking the number of occupiers at The Shard to 23.

Leonteq will take the space on a 10-year lease.

The Shard is owned by State of Qatar and Sellar Property Group, and managed by REM.

JLL and Knight Frank are leasing agents on The Shard.
