Auction House Pearsons nets £1.5m in August

Auction House Pearsons kicked off the beginning of a new season with a 73% success rate and sales of £1.5m.

The results – the first to be posted in September – were £2m down on the auction house’s July sale, but £2m up on June’s total.

Out of 11 lots offered, the top lot was a mixed-use investment in Romsey, Hampshire, which sold for £464,000 off a guide of £460,000. It comprised two empty lock-up shops, a two-bedroom flat, storage sheds and a seven-vehicle car park.

A two-bedroom period cottage in Curdridge, Southampton, guided at £225,000, sold for £230,250.

However, a four-storey semi-detached house in Southsea, Hampshire, split into four one-bedroom flats and guided at £280,000 to £300,000, failed to sell after bids stopped at £274,000.

The sale took place at the Hilton hotel at the Ageas Bowl, Botley Road, Southampton, on 1 September.
