Green light for £250m Maidenhead regen scheme

London & Aberdeen and Smedvig’s £250m regeneration scheme for Maidenhead town centre has been approved by Windsor and Maidenhead council.

Plans for The Landing include 260,000 sq ft of new offices, 48,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space and 225 new homes. Outline planning permission has been granted subject to a section 106 agreement.

The regeneration of the 3.3-acre Broadway site is being brought forward by Ryger Maidenhead, a joint venture between London & Aberdeen Group and Norwegian investor Smedvig, which started the development after acquiring the King’s Triangle site from ING RED in December 2013.

Designed by Studio Egret West and Allies & Morrison, the development is due for completion in 2019 to coincide with the arrival of Crossrail.

Doug Higgins, managing director at London & Aberdeen Group, said: “This is a major step forward for Maidenhead and our vision will help to reinvigorate the town centre and capitalise on Maidenhead’s status as a future Crossrail destination.

“The scheme has a clear role to play in helping Maidenhead maintain its place as a pre-eminent destination in the Thames Valley, creating a spectacular meeting place, new jobs, economic activity and a hub linking all parts of the town centre together.”

Other schemes that London & Aberdeen Group has undertaken with Smedvig include the £55m Ryger House, SW1, and 30 Park Street, SE1, a 60,000 sq ft office and residential scheme.
