US homebuilder confidence near 10-year high

US homebuilder confidence reached its highest level since November 2005, with the National Association of Home Builders’ index edging up to a reading of 62 in September from 61 in the previous month.

Expectations for the next six months headed lower, however, to a four-month low of 68.

The NAHB expects housing to move forward at a steady and modest rate in the remainder of the year.
