Countrywide posts top result with £10.4m sale

auction-gavel.jpegSales at Countrywide Property Auctions’ latest event nearly doubled July’s figures and were the firm’s highest this year.

The 70 lots raised £10.4m, compared with the £5.6m generated by the July London auction. Until last week’s auction, the highest volume came in March, when £5.7m of lots sold.

The top lot was a former care home in Maidenhead, Berkshire, arranged as three separate buildings, and guided at £910,000. It sold for £1.4m.

Another former care home, in Thornton Heath, Surrey, guided at £395,000, sold for £581,000. The eight-bedroom building was marketed as ideal for residential conversion, subject to planning.

A detached house in Muswell Hill, N10, arranged as eight studio flats and a one-bedroom flat, was guided at £1.7m but attracted a final bid of only £1.5m.

Of the 70 lots, 19 sold prior, and 23 sold on the day, producing a 60% success rate.

The sale took place on 15 September at Le Meridien Piccadilly, W1.
