MIPIM UK: The progress being made by the government’s Regeneration Investment Organisation, as well as its plans to attract more inward investment into UK regeneration projects, will be discussed at an event hosted by Estates Gazette at MIPIM UK.
RIO has worked with national and local partners to help stimulate £3.2bn of investment commitments into UK regeneration from both foreign and domestic sources, and there is scope for more still. But the key is in aligning the two.
RIO chief executive Tony Danaher will be joined on the panel by tireless regeneration campaigner Jackie Sadek, chief executive of UK Regeneration and a regular EG blogger.
They will sit alongside key players in UK regeneration, including Laura Mason, director of direct investment at Legal & General Capital, which this year launched a £15bn regeneration vehicle to provide investment into UK projects; Mark Jackson, managing director of Scarborough Development Group; and Paul Clark, head of development consultancy and agency at Capita Real Estate.
Investment secured by UKTI’s RIO has supported projects including Battersea Power Station, Nine Elms, Manchester City Airport and Royal Albert Dock.
Panellists will be asked what lessons can be drawn from funding these and other projects across the country to link investors with further schemes.
This debate, hosted in partnership with GL Hearn, will also shed light on what makes a project investor-ready; which projects are in need of investment; where investors are coming from; and which projects hold the most appeal to them and why.
Aligning investment and opportunity through the regeneration and investment organisation
Where: MIPIM UK, Olympia London, Hammersmith Road, W14 8UX
When: Friday 23 October, 10.15am –11am, Red Room
Synopsis: The amount of foreign direct investment looking to find a home in the UK is as big as the number of regeneration projects seeking investment. The trick is to align the two – a task which cannot be underestimated. Not least because regeneration is generally a response to market failure.
RIO has worked with national and local partners to help stimulate £3.2bn of investment commitments into UK regeneration from a combination of foreign and domestic sources, and there is scope for more still. So what is the future of regeneration investment in the UK? Where has RIO lived up to expectations, and where has it fallen short? What lessons can be taken from past experiences to drive further success?
This debate will also shed light on at what a project is deemed investor ready; which projects are in need of investment; where investors are coming from; plus which projects hold the most appeal and why.
