Comprehensive school wins Stirling Prize

The Burntwood school, a comprehensive school in Wandsworth, south London, has won the Stirling Prize in recognition of work to expand the school.

As part of the work to expand the site, architects AHMM added six buildings to the original 1950s Modernist school. Key features include precast concrete panels forming a structural façade.

Other contenders for the prize were the Maggie’s cancer caring centre in Lanarkshire and a social housing block in Darbishire Place in east London.
