East London could provide 200,000 new homes

East London has capacity for a potential 200,000 new homes over the next 20 years, much more than previously estimated, according to estimates by Sir Edward Lister, deputy mayor for policy and planning.

The mayor’s office is due to publish a report on the possible location of new homes in the Lea Valley and other areas along the Thames later on Thursday.

The report will also include details of potential sites for commercial and industrial properties, as well as infrastructure.
