Almacantar has appointed CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield to lease Two Southbank Place, the 300,000 sq ft speculative office block being developed next to the Shell Centre, SE1 (pictured).

The KPF-designed building will rise 16 floors and will ready for occupation in the final quarter of 2018.

Almacantar forward purchased the buildings, together with another office block prelet to Shell, from a joint venture between Canary Wharf Group and Qatari Diar earlier this year following the conclusions of a lengthy planning battle.

Mike Hussey, chief executive of Almacantar, said: “This part of South Bank has been a prime location for 20 years but has been starved of decent commercial and residential space. Now the development at Southbank Place will provide a top quality mixed-use environment and catapult the area to the top of many businesses’ wish lists.”
