Carillion plots £80m regen for Leeds’ South Bank

Tower-Works-CarillionCarillion has submitted a planning application for the £80m regeneration of Tower Works in Holbeck, on Leeds’ South Bank.

Plans for the former industrial site include 90,000 sq ft of commercial offices, 24,000 sq ft of shops, restaurants and bars and a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom flats and four-bedroom houses.

If approved, the Grade II listed Engine House will be converted into a cinema and boutique brewery, facing onto a public square.

Carillion won a contract with the Homes and Communities Agency to regenerate the site earlier this year.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2016.

Architect Jestico + Whiles and landscape architect Oobe designed the plans with engineer WSP.

Knight Frank and Sanderson Wetherall are advising on offices, CBRE and Morgans are advising on housing and Pudney Shuttleworth has been appointed to oversee the retail and leisure elements.
