Restaurant tycoon Richard Caring has emerged as the biggest individual donor to the Conservative Party during the third quarter.
Caring gave the party £296,000, the largest donation from any individual to a political party.
He owns a collection of prestigious venues including Scott’s, The Ivy and Annabel’s.
Figures published by the Electoral Commission showed that the Conservative Party received £3.4m in donations in the third quarter, while Labour received £4m and the Liberal Democrats received £980,000.
