Whitbread sales grow

premier_inn_THUMB.jpegWhitbread’s sales grew by 11.1% in the year to 26 November after achieving 10.4% growth in the last quarter.

Premier Inn grew its sales by 10.8% in the 13 weeks to 26 November, with a combination of 4.7% like-for-like sales growth and a 7.4% increase in bedrooms.

Sales in London grew by 14.8%, compared with 9.7% in the regions.

The hotel chain has added 1,818 bedrooms in the UK since February, bringing its total UK portfolio to 60,956.

Premier Inn International added 168 bedrooms over the same period, increasing its international portfolio to 1,871.

Costa grew its worldwide total sales by 15.3% and like-for-like UK sales were up by 3.7% in the 39 weeks to 26 November.

By the end of the year, Costa plans to have opened around 200 net new stores worldwide and installed more than 800 net Costa Express machines.

Alison Brittain, chief executive of Whitbread, said: “Our brands continue to win market share and we are on track to deliver full-year results in line with market expectations.”
