Brockton Capital has struck a major office prelet at the Mailbox, Birmingham. Advanced Computer Software Group has taken the whole of the 45,000 sq ft office element of the recently revamped scheme, where rents are £25 per sq ft, for its Midlands HQ.

New partners at Knight Frank

Knight Frank has promoted four staff to proprietary partner. The promotions, to come into effect next May, include Anthony Barnard, department head, West End capital markets; Harvey Cyzer, office head, Mayfair; Luke Ellwood, office head, Richmond and South West regional head; Simon Gammon, department head, Knight Frank finance.

Time takes Farnborough let

Harbert Management Corporation and XLB have secured the first letting in the Pinehurst development at Farnborough Business Park in Hampshire. Publisher Time Inc UK has agreed to take 30,000 sq ft at Pinehurst II on a 10-year lease. Quoted rents at the development are £27.50 per sq ft. CBRE, Hollis Hockley and DTRE represented Harbert Management Corporation and XLB; Cushman & Wakefield acted for Time Inc UK.

Extra funding for share scheme

One Public Estate, a 2013 government initiative set up to help local authorities streamline their property portfolios, is to receive an extra £31m funding. The Cabinet Office scheme enables local councils and other public bodies to share buildings and services, reduce running costs and release land to boost development.

Garden towns set to bloom

Two new garden towns are to receive £1.1m to help deliver thousands of homes. Didcot, in Oxfordshire, and North Essex have been chosen for the new towns, which between them are expected to provide up to 50,000 new homes, supported by new infrastructure.
