Two of the UK’s largest housing associations – Circle Anglia and Affinity Sutton – have confirmed plans to merge.
The merger will create a 127,000-home housing association with 500,000 tenants across England.
The rationale for the merger is to improve the balance sheets of the respective businesses at a time of radical change for the sector brought about by a government u-turn over social rent increases.
The merger is expected to complete next summer.
