Trump fails in bid to halt wind farm

The supreme court has rejected a bid by Donald Trump to block the building of an offshore wind farm close to the Trump Organisation’s Aberdeenshire golf course.

The company’s appeal was based on the claim that ministers had no right to give consent to the planning application, and that there was a problem with the design application. Permission was given in 2013 for 11 turbines, following an application by Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm in 2011.

The Trump Organisation is considering an appeal to the European court.
