FairBriar International, a joint venture between Scarborough Group, Hualing Group, and Metro Holdings, has received planning consent for the first phase of a £700m mixed-use scheme in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Middlewood Locks will span 24 acres and comprise around 2,000 homes with 750,000 sq ft of commercial development, including offices, a hotel, shops, restaurants, a convenience store and a gym.
The first phase, which includes around 571 homes with shops, restaurants and canal-side footpaths and cycle ways leading to the city, has been approved by Salford city council.
The masterplan received outline planning consent in March.
Work on the first phase is due to begin in early 2016.
The site has a gross development value of more than £700m and is expected to create more than 7,000 jobs for the region.
Architects WCEC Group designed the scheme.
