Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon visited some of the areas worst affected by floods after Storm Frank hit the country.
Sturgeon, who was in the south of Scotland, said the impact of the floods and the disruption caused had been “devastating”.
The Scottish government has activated the ‘Bellwin Scheme’, which releases funds to local authorities to deal with emergencies.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency issued two severe flood warnings, for Whitesands in Dumfries and the Tweed in Peebles, which have now been lifted.
Rising river levels in Scotland, especially on the Dee in Aberdeenshire, forced many people to evacuate their homes. Part of the A93 near Ballater was swept away by a river torrent.
