CBRE poaches C&W’s Burlton

handshake-THUMB.jpegCBRE has hired Mark Burlton from Cushman & Wakefield as global executive of its retail occupier team in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Burlton was global head of cross-border retail at C&W and also has experience as real estate director, Europe, for Ralph Lauren.

Guy Hollis, head of advisory and transaction services, EMEA, at CBRE, said: “Retailers are increasingly looking to expand their horizons, and in the past 12 months we have seen a number of US retailers in particular look to launch their brands in continental Europe.

“Mark’s background, as a retail occupier, a retail landlord and a retail real estate adviser, puts him in a highly advantageous position.”

Burlton will be based in London and work with Peter Gold, head of cross-border retail, EMEA, and David Close, director, EMEA occupier cross-border. He will also join CBRE’s global retail executive group.
