easyHotel has bought a freehold building at 3-5 Northgate Street, Ipswich, which it plans to convert into a 94-bedroom facility.
The total cost of the purchase and conversion is estimated at £4m.
Previously used as a nightclub, the Grade II-listed property is near the junction with Tavern Street, the town’s principal retail area.
Chief executive officer Guy Parsons at easyHotel said: “We expect to benefit from expanding local business and tourism in the area as we extend our brand presence in the UK.”
Subject to consent, the hotel is scheduled to open in 2017.
