Shares in US book retailer Barnes & Noble fell following reports of comments by the chief executive of shopping mall operator General Growth Properties that Amazon could be looking at opening 300-400 bricks-and-mortar bookstores.
Amazon opened a bookstore in Seattle late last year, offering 6,000 titles. It also opened a number of stores at US universities, but they act more as pick-up locations for online orders.
