Candy digs deep for Holland Park basement approval

Dukes-Lodge-Holland-Park-W11

Christian Candy’s CPC Group has won its appeal to redevelop a mansion block on the edge of Holland Park, W11.

Having bought Dukes Lodge, a 1930s block of 27 flats for close to £50m in 2013, it submitted plans to turn it into 24 luxury flats behind a façade of five town houses.

These were rejected in early 2015 owing to concerns over the size of the basements.

The planning inspectorate has now overturned the decision, maintaining the size of the basements, which go as deep as 17m. CPC will have to make an affordable housing contribution of £6.5m.
