Soho House is in talks to open at Allied London’s Old Granada Studios on Quay Street in Manchester.
The club operator’s existing locations around the world are a hive for celebrities, artists and media professionals.
The move signals Manchester’s growing attraction for the affluent creative classes. In the past year the city has seen a surge in interest from media and tech companies looking to benefit from its cheaper office rents, lower living costs and graduate talent pool.
The Levitt Bernstein Associates-designed building will include a private club on the top floor, a media hub comprising small, workspace/studio suites, a rooftop swimming pool and private bar and restaurants.
The development, which includes the studio where The Beatles played their first live TV performance, will also feature a boutique cinema and performance space.
It would be the first northern venture for the exclusive club, where annual membership in London costs between £600 and £1,400 a year.
The development forms part of Allied London’s £1.2bn regeneration of a 25-acre site adjacent to Spinningfields. The site is part of the developer’s vision for a new residential-led neighbourhood with 2,500 homes and up to 600,000 sq ft of workspace targeted at the TMT sector.
Soho House has previously worked with Allied London, launching the Soho Works workspace at its Herbal House development, EC1, last year.
JLL is acting for Allied London.
