Cumbrian Properties has posted its second-highest sales total at auction, fuelled by a growing owner-occupier market.
The Cumbrian branch of the Agents Property Auction raised £2.5m from 19 properties, with a 79% success rate, at its 2 March sale at the Halston Aparthotel, Carlisle.
A six-bedroom guest house above an artist’s studio in Ambleside sold for £380,000 off a £360,000 guide.
A converted coach house in Coniston set in 6.5 acres of -private woodland with views of the fells, lake and village, sold for £345,000 off a £350,000 guide. It is currently used as a holiday let that generates income of £45,000 pa.
Auction coordinator Anne Miller said most buyers were planning to live in the properties themselves, reflecting a growing trend for owner-occupiers to attend auctions.
She said: “The room was not full – we had a lot of phone bidders. We thought we would sell around 70% [of lots], so it was better than we had hoped.”
