Grainger has submitted plans to West Berkshire Council for a £50m, 232-home private rental development next to Newbury railway station in Berkshire.
Most of the 5.5-acre site is owned by the council, which is partnering with Grainger on the development. It will include 10,200 sq ft of commercial space, a new station plaza and bus station.
Construction is expected to begin in 2017, with completion in 2019.
Helen Gordon, chief executive of Grainger, said: “We are pleased to submit this planning application for over 200 new long-term rental homes in Newbury. This application follows on from our strategy announcement in late January, where we set out our ambition to significantly grow our private rented sector business by utilising our development expertise and investing over £850m before 2020.”
