House prices up 79% in Winchester in last 10 years

House prices in Winchester have soared by 79% in the last 10 years, the largest percentage increase for any UK city over the period.

The city benefits from its relative proximity to London, with the train journey to the capital taking an hour.

Aberdeen, Brighton, Cambridge and St Albans filled the remaining top-five places. London was in sixth place, with a 56% rise in prices, although over the last five years the capital led price growth, with a rise of 53%.
