Shell to close three UK offices

Shell-sign-THUMB.jpegShell is closing offices in Reading, Aberdeen and Manchester after its takeover of oil and gas exploration firm BG Group.

The oil giant will shut its 30,000 sq ft office at Brabazon House on Concord Business Park near Manchester Airport by the end of 2017.

BG’s former headquarters at Albyn Place, Aberdeen, will close at the end of this year, with all operations moving to Shell’s Aberdeen Tullos office.

Shell also intends to close its BG Thames Valley Park campus by the end of the year.

The closures come after Shell undertook a review of its UK office footprint, which recommended that the company consolidate all of its operations in London and South East into central London.

The company is cutting 10,000 jobs worldwide, of which 2,800 are connected to the takeover of BG in April 2015.

Shell declined to comment on which advisory firm would be leading the disposal of the three offices.

CBRE has a contract with Shell to advise on property transaction management, lease administration and consultancy services covering around 9,000 retail sites worldwide.
