Argent Related have withdrawn from the bidding process for the development of Mayfield Quarter.
The Mayfield Partnership, comprising LCR, Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester, has said that U+I will now join the shortlist.
The revised shortlist now consists of Carillion, Ask and Patrizia Consortium, Urban & Civic and U+I.
David Partridge, joint CEO of Argent Related and managing partner of Argent, said: “The Argent Related partnership has taken the decision to exit the Mayfield project bidding process. Given Argent’s long-standing and successful relationship with Manchester, this is not one which has been made lightly.
“While we believe that the scheme is an exciting proposition for the city, Argent Related’s immediate focus is on our pipeline projects and other future projects where we are concentrating our resources.”
The shortlisted bidders will now enter into the third and final stage of the competitive tender process. A development partner is due to be appointed in late summer 2016.
The Mayfield Quarter is set to include 1,300 homes, 807,000 sq ft of office space, a 350-bedroom hotel, retail and leisure facilities, and a new city park centred along a remediated River Medlock.
