Cushman & Wakefield in battle for second place

Cushman & Wakefield can overtake JLL to become the world’s second biggest real estate advisory firm but CBRE is now “unassailable”, according to chief executive Brett White.

“I think CBRE will forever, at least in my career, be the largest firm,” White told Estates Gazette this week. Instead, he said, C&W would focus on differentiating itself from its rivals, through a focus on working “across the business spectrum, not just on big, multi-region accounts”.

White also suggested that any IPO by Cushman & Wakefield owners TPG, PAG and Ontario Teachers Pension Plan was likely to be some years away.

“Capital markets right now are not in a condition where we would want to do anything this year, and given the size of the company and the size of the investment, I suspect they are going to stay in for some time,” he said.
