Ikea considers taking BHS stores

IKEA-logo-THUMB.jpegSwedish furniture giant Ikea is considering taking over some of BHS’s shops if administrators fail to find a buyer for the whole business.

According to reports, Ikea is looking to bolster its UK portfolio and has been in talks with BHS administrators Duff & Phelps.

Savills is currently looking for a buyer for the business as a going concern.

Mike Ashley of Sports Direct, Phillip Day of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, and Christo Weiss, owner of New Look, are all considering buying the business.

Daniel Lundholm, spokesman for Ikea UK and Ireland, said: “I can confirm that we have not and will not be bidding to buy the BHS business out of administration.

“However, we are exploring a number of potential locations across the UK for more order and collection points.”
