Carter Jonas hires Allan

Carter Jonas has hired Bruce Allan, Deloitte’s head of property valuations in the Middle East, for its Leeds office. Allan will join as partner and head of valuations in the company’s northern hub.

Credit Suisse in Mancs buy

Credit Suisse Management has bought the Corner Block Building in Manchester with £9.4m of speculative funding from RBS. Credit Suisse will renovate the 61,000 sq ft building in Quay Street.

High court backs Boris

Former London mayor Boris Johnson did not unlawfully push through a British Land application to redevelop warehouses on Norton Folgate, E1, the high court has ruled. Mr Justice Gilbert rejected the claim by a conservation group that Johnson had wrongly granted permission when Tower Hamlets councillors had been opposed.

Berkeley goes carbon-positive

Berkeley has committed to becoming the first major housebuilder in Britain to go carbon-positive with a 10% reduction in carbon emissions per staff member that will include contractors. The company will pay a monetary fee per kg of CO2 produced to offset emissions.

Home Builders want to build

The Home Builders Federation says it can help reach the government’s 2020 1m homes target. It said its 14 largest members wanted to build double the number of homes in 2019 that were built in 2010 by expanding business, boosting training and improving transparency.

Pygott & Crone appointed

Lincolnshire and London-based agent Pygott & Crone has been appointed as sole agent on a £1.3bn housing development by Lucent Housing Group. The scheme will deliver 3,000 homes west of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.
