Unite Students has exchanged on a site in Portsmouth for a new 480-bed development.

The site, previously owned by Portsmouth City Council, has been taken on a subject-to-planning basis and is expected to cost around £30m to develop.

The project is expected to be delivered by 2018 for students at the University of Portsmouth.

The new development will take the number of student bedrooms in the city to 2,200.
