
Student digs deals up
Student accommodation investment volume reached a record level in 2015, with 74,500 beds and £5.9bn of stock traded, according to Savills. This was double the average investment between 2012 and 2014, at £2.4bn, and accounted for 8.5% of all beds in the UK.
Grosvenor to restore St Mark’s
Grosvenor has been granted consent by Westminster City Council to restore a former Mayfair church as a community space and shops. St Mark’s Church in North Audley Street, W1, will provide 14,500 sq ft of shops and restaurants.
Carter Jonas hires CPO guru
Carter Jonas has appointed GL Hearn’s Paul Astbury as partner and head of compulsory purchase. Astbury, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the CPO sector, has worked on some of the UK’s largest regeneration projects, including Hammerson and Barnet Council’s Brent Cross Cricklewood, and the new passenger terminus at St Pancras International station, N1.
Nurton to unload Brum block
Nurton Developments is to sell its biggest asset in Birmingham. The Birmingham-based private developer has appointed CBRE to find a buyer for Two Colmore Square and Cannon House block in the city’s Colmore business district. The 158,000 sq ft block is likely to be priced at around £105m.
Clemett joins Restaurant Group
The Restaurant Group has appointed Graham Clemett as a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee from 1 June. Clemett will join from Workspace Group, where he is currently chief financial officer. He previously held finance positions at Royal Bank of Scotland and Reuters, and trained with KPMG.
