Digital specialists who need little more than a laptop and a good internet connection to do their work are eschewing tech hubs like London and Silicon Valley for a nomadic existence in the jungle of Bali.

A sustainable city that incorporates a “green” school overlooking paddy fields on the tropical Indonesian island, a co-working space, subscription-based co-living service and an eco-hotel, is catering to a new global class of eco-conscious digital entrepreneurs, tech executives and creative freelancers choosing locations to suit their work.

Co-working site Hubud Bali, founded by Steve Munroe, has amassed 3,500 members in three years. At any given time it hosts 200-300 people from as many as 30 countries on the principle that digital natives can work from anywhere as long as there is good internet, good coffee and a good community.
