10 things not to miss at LREF

Estates Gazette is the official programme and content partner for this year’s London Real Estate Forum, which takes place at Berkeley Square, W1, on 14 and 15 June. More than 2,000 developers, investors, occupiers, policy makers and advisers will be there – the EG team will bring you full coverage.

1. Estates Gazette LREF dinner

Almost 150 of London’s real estate movers and shakers will attend the inaugural LREF dinner, hosted by EG with support from Macfarlanes and O2. It is a not-to-be-missed, invitation-only event at The Dorchester, Park Lane, W1.

2. Opening reception

Traditionally opened by the mayor of London, this year’s Monday night reception may offer guests their first glimpse of Sadiq Khan since he took office last month. His attendance had not been confirmed as EG went to press. But whether he is there or not, the invitation-only reception offers a chance to network with the great and good.

3. Next generation

There will be not one but two next generation events at this year’s LREF, highlighting the emphasis that organisations in the built environment are putting on recruiting and retaining talent. The next generation reception will take place onsite on Tuesday evening. EG is gathering a group of rising stars to talk about their futures earlier the same day.

4. How likely is it…

This year’s EG keynote debate asks some of the best minds in property to separate the probable from the improbable on key issues affecting the market.

5. London’s towers

There are more than 400 towers planned across London. Growing up or just getting taller? is the question posed in this Tuesday afternoon debate.

6. The exhibition

The hall is always a hive of activity. Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, Derwent London and Great Portland Estates are among the exhibitors. The NLA central London model and the City model are big draws too, as is Deloitte Digital which usually has some impressive new tech to play with.

7. Area focuses

Domestically, sessions showcasing King’s Cross and Euston, and Vauxhall and Battersea (above) are likely to be among the bigger draws. This year there are some appealing international dimensions too: not least the EG session on the “vanguard cities” of London and Dubai.

8. The future of offices

From flexible space and cutting-edge design to sustainability and wellness, the traditional office model is being turned on its head. This EG session gazes into the future.

9. Priorities for the new mayoralty

This session on Wednesday morning includes James Murray, the newly appointed deputy mayor for housing. Murray will no doubt touch on the topic about which everyone wants to hear more – how will the mayor enforce a manifesto commitment for “50% of all new homes in London to be genuinely affordable”?
