Big beasts and personal bests – it must be the LandAid 10k

More than 800 runners took part in LandAid’s biggest 10K run in London yet. The annual event saw a penguin, chicken and of course team EG, race to Clapham Common

Personal bests were smashed and records set at the 20th annual LandAid 10K summer run last week. More than 800 runners took part in this year’s LandAid 10k event. The record turnout saw a penguin, a chicken and a man riding a bear race around Clapham Common, SW4.

For the winners, it was a dramatic race to the finish, with Edinburgh-based Michael  Wright of Watts Group nudging past second-placed Matthew Janes of Malcolm Hollis, and over the line to take honours in a time of 33:57.

Emily Locke of Native Land clinched the trophy in the under-45s category, while Emma Huepfl of Laxfield Capital was fastest finisher in the female over-45, and fastest female overall with a time of 43:05. The winner of the men’s over-45 category was Justin James of Bilfinger GVA.

Bilfinger GVA was the event’s headline sponsor, and its team, the GVA Cruisers, was awarded the fastest team prize.

Spratley Studios took gold in the team fundraising category, having raised more than £1,500 before the event, and Jorge Mendonca of Grosvenor was crowned best individual fundraiser, having collected £1,065 for LandAid.

The property community raised £60,000 in total to help homeless young people.

Other event supporters were Burges Salmon, Capstone Recruitment, Evans Randall, Gerald Eve, The Howard de Walden Estate and Maples Teesdale.
