Sir Philip Green prepares for BHS inquiry

Former BHS owner Sir Philip Green is to be questioned on the collapse of BHS at a select committee hearing in parliament tomorrow.

He will be questioned alongside Richard Caring, a former BHS stakeholder; Alexander Dellal, director, Allied Commercial Exporters; Michael Sherwood, vice chairman of Goldman Sachs; and Neville Khan, managing partner at Deloitte.

City grandee Lord Myners will lead the panel of financial assessors in an inquiry into the collapse of BHS, the firm’s pension fund, and pension regulation.

Green is likely to face questions regarding his decision to sell BHS to Chappell, how much profit Green and his wife made, what he will do to help the pension scheme and his involvement in various rescue deals for the business, including a reported last-minute bid from Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley.

The business, innovation and skills, work and pensions committees has called or recalled the following witnesses to give evidence on the BHS inquiry:

• Mike Ashley, owner of Sports Direct, will be asked to provide evidence in writing.
